LAKE MARY, FL – PGA Merchandise Show Week got off to a great start for at least four golf professionals who competed in the Timacuan $10,000 Scramble Monday at Timacuan Golf Club in north Orlando.
The team of Matt Kleinrock, Jeff Dennis, Tyler Brown and Chase Baldwin teamed for an 18-under-par 54 in extremely difficult conditions to capture the $10,000 first prize.
The foursome, all NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour players from the Jacksonville area, made three eagles in high winds to help reach the 18-under-par total on the challenging Ron Garl design.
“The tournament was really well organized and had a lot of great players,” said Brown. “I love the golf course. It has a lot of really nice holes, and was in great shape. It is one of the best courses we play all year on the Hooters Tour.”
Second place prize of $5,000 went to the team of Jerry James, Russell Knox, Michael O’Neil and John Lamonte who shot 56. At 57 and winning $4,000 were Timothy Hagarty, Jesse Smith, Jim Troy and Martin Cataliolo.
The semi-private Timacuan, which is home to the Mike Bender Golf Academy, is located near Interstate 4, just minutes from downtown Orlando. It has been ranked as high as No. 14 in Florida.
