Cerritos, California, January 26, 2009 – GolfBuddy announced today that it has seen a 46.7% increase in yearly total sales for 2009 over the 2008 calendar year. Despite the current economic situation, GolfBuddy continues to grow as a brand leader in the Golf GPS Rangefinder market.
The company largely attributes its increase in sales as a result of continuing to offer its customers a product that requires no annual membership fees to download courses. “In these tough economic times, we know that the last thing that our customers want is another bill to pay.” Said Peter Choi, Vice-President of Sales. “Most people today do quite a bit of research before making purchases on electronic devices. With all the different choices that are available, customers will take multiple factors into consideration and make comparisons based on functions and features, overall quality and cost. The deciding factor for many of our customers is knowing that the cost of the unit is all they are paying for, and that they won’t have to pay any monthly fees to download courses and use our product.”, Choi added.
The company also attributes the increase in sales due to the fact that it offers an all-around exceptional product that is both user-friendly, and comes equipped with advanced features. “We were the first to offer a Golf GPS Rangefinder that comes with courses pre-loaded.” Said GolfBuddy CEO, Harry Jung. “Many people, especially senior golfers who are not computer literate, tend to shy away from GPS Rangefinders because they simply don’t have the ability to hook it up to a computer and download courses in order to use it . We’ve made it possible for them to enjoy all the benefits of using a GPS Rangefinder by offering a product that comes with thousands of courses from around the world pre-loaded. If the course they’re playing on is on the unit, they can simply take it out of the box and use it during their next round of golf without having to download anything.” Jung added.
GolfBuddy has also lowered the MSRP prices for its Pro and Tour Models. The GolfBuddy Pro now retails for $279 and the Tour model, equipped with a color screen, is available for $349.
Both the GolfBuddy Pro and Tour models come pre-loaded with courses from around the world, and can store up to 20,000 courses in their memory. GolfBuddy has over 25,000 courses from around the world in its course library that have been professionally mapped out by GolfBuddy’s team of professional course surveyors. Both the Pro and Tour models come equipped with many advanced features such as automatic course and hole recognition, a digital scorecard, and a mark feature that allows the user to calculate shot distance.
