ORLANDO, Fla. – January 26, 2010…Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, today announced that Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., received top honors from Desert Golf magazine as one of the Top 10 Resort Courses in the Coachella Valley, landing the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive year, and the fourth time in the last five years.

Desert Golf magazine’s annual “Top 10” awards are calculated by votes from local Directors of Golf, Head Golf Professionals and General Managers in the Las Vegas, Arizona and Coachella Valley desert markets. Desert Golf is the nation’s largest golf publication to feature and promote golf in the southwest.

“We are thrilled that Desert Golf once again named Shadow Ridge as the top resort in our region,” said Brett Meabon, Director of Golf at Shadow Ridge Golf Club. “Our team is dedicated to providing our guests with the finest golf experience and it is an honor to be recognized for our efforts, especially among other industry professionals.”

The first Nick Faldo designed Championship golf course in the U.S., Marriott’s Shadow Ridge Golf Club is set against the beautiful backdrop of the snow-capped Santa Rosa Mountains in Palm Desert, Calif., and is located in the Coachella Valley. This beautiful and peaceful valley is often referred to as the “golf capital of the world” because of its ideal playing conditions and abundance of courses. Shadow Ridge is also home to the Faldo Golf Institute, offering instructional programs for golfers of all skill levels.
