Columbus, Ohio – Sterling Sports Management (“Sterling”) announced that they have signed an exclusive representation agreement with LPGA Tour rookie, Jean Reynolds.
Reynolds received her LPGA Tour card for 2010 by finishing her Duramed Futures Tour season #2 on the Money List. Reynolds won two tournaments on the Futures Tour in 2009 but she captured the attention of millions of fans around the world when she flirted with winning the US Women’s Open. While she seemed to arrive on the scene out of nowhere, Reynolds, a native of Newnan, Georgia, had been a strong junior and was recruited to the golf team at the University of Georgia. But, rather than play, she decided that her college experience would mean more to her if she did it as a student rather than as an athlete. So, she hung up the clubs for four years and joined a sorority, studied abroad and lived the “normal” student life. Now, she is showing that the break from golf has not hurt her game but may have, in fact, helped nurture a new desire to reach the very top levels of the LPGA Tour.
In explaining her selection of agencies, Reynolds stated, “I knew that Sterling represented some of the very top golfers on the LPGA tour. They also have a reputation for being honest and really knowing how to market LPGA players better than anyone else. But, I also wanted to be represented by a firm that not only had an international reach, but had a presence in Atlanta. My southern roots are part of who I am so that was important to me. I just can’t wait for the LPGA Tour season to start!”
J.S. Kang, Sterling’s Vice President, stated, “Jean is such a talented player that it is hard to imagine she took 4 years off for school. That makes her very special and makes her story that much more interesting. Just as millions of fans wanted to get to know her better during her US Women’s Open run, we feel that once she starts playing on the LPGA Tour, the whole world will want to get to know her as well.”
