TGA – Premier Junior Golf will provide year round golf and education programs at Foster Elementary School
El Segundo, CA – Total Golf Adventures (TGA), one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the largest national after-school junior golf program in the country, announces the unveiling of the first ever-synthetic putting green into Foster Elementary School in the Compton Unified School District in Los Angeles. The synthetic putting green, on school grounds, is the first in Los Angeles County and is the first of its kind specifically for the school district.
TGA worked together with Foster Elementary Principal Dr. Jacqueline Sanderlin to install one of the only synthetic putting greens in the country specifically for in school and after school enrichment programs. The green is located inside the school in the courtyard area, providing a convenient and safe location for the golf programs.
The Compton Unified School District is a Title I federally and state funded school system. Students will benefit greatly during the after school at-risk hours from the putting green and the year round enrichment programs that TGA will provide through a grant from the May Company Foundation. The Compton district is nationally known for being one of the most challenged school systems when it comes to students at risk or living at or near poverty.
TGA will be providing Foster Elementary in Compton year round after school golf enrichment programs beginning this week. By receiving the grant funding, no student at Foster will have to pay for any of the classes, which include five week sessions at the school and then one week at the Compton Par 3 Golf Course.
“We are very proud and excited about opening the door and bringing golf to Compton Schools to provide these young kids with an opportunity to grow and develop their life skills. This is one of the most rewarding programs I have ever been a part of,” said Joshua Jacobs, president and CEO of Total Golf Adventures. “Through our ability to secure private grant funding for these after school enrichment programs, we are hoping that this program with Compton can be a model of success around the country for other TGA Programs to reach out to under resourced school systems and reach at risk kids.”
