(Grand Rapids, Mich.) Several area charities and worthy causes will be beneficiaries of the 22nd West Michigan Golf Show beginning Friday at the DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. Entry fee proceeds from the popular interactive areas and contests at the Show will go directly to the designated charity. The following charities and non-profit organizations at the Golf Show this year include:
ALS Association Michigan Chapter & the CaddyAm are the beneficiaries of the Saturday morning pancake breakfast at the Golf Show. The ALS Association leads the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig’s disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. CaddyAm is an annual West Michigan golf outing whose proceeds benefit the ALS Association. Costing $5, the pancake breakfast begins Saturday morning at 9 AM in the Grand Gallery of the DeVos Place.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Grand Rapids is the designated charity for the ever-popular Treetops Par-3 Challenge where a fully landscaped par-three inside DeVos Place will test golfers’ skills while competing for special prizes. Serving all of Kent County and the eastern region of Ottawa County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters provides adult mentors and role models for thousands of children experiencing problems and stress, the majority of whom live in single-parent families.
Folds of Honor Foundation is the charity for the Grand Haven GC Closest to the Pin Contest where a golf simulator will challenge patrons with an electronic version of a famous par-three. Folds of Honor provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our country.
Warren Reynolds Golf Classic is the designated non-profit for the $10,000 Putt Contest that’s been a Golf Show favorite for over 20 years. The Warren Reynolds Golf Classic raises funds for the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary’s.
