MEDWAY, MA, February 15, 2010 – Cybex International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYBI), a leading manufacturer of premium exercise equipment for the commercial and consumer markets, announced today that the Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA, and Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic have installed the company’s “Sweet Spot” Golf Fitness solution.
Mirroring the trend of industry leaders choosing CYBEX to enhance the member and guest experience, both clubs selected a broad range of high-performance strength and cardio equipment, highlighted by the Bravo Functional Trainer and the Arc Trainer, which has been shown by independent research to provide a significantly superior workout versus popular ellipticals.
“These installations, along with those at hundreds of other high-profile clubs like TPC Sawgrass, speak to the growing demand for our custom and pre-sized golf fitness packages,” says John Aglialoro, CYBEX Chairman and CEO. “Our recent partnership with Greg Norman will only continue this momentum as we expand our market leadership position.”
The CYBEX Golf Fitness platform is designed to drive year-round revenue, enhance member retention, increase fitness center usage and create a point of distinction, with more information available at www.cybexgolf.com. This new, total fitness solution is based precisely on the equipment and exercises trusted by the world’s best golfers, nearly all of whom work out on CYBEX equipment, the only brand used in the PGA and Champions Tour mobile fitness trailers.
“Not only is CYBEX equipment state of the art, the service provided in support of this installation has been tremendous,” says Dr. Claudio A. Silvestri, Casa de Campo President and CEO. “They’ve worked closely with our personal trainers to enhance the results-driven exercise programs we offer. This included a
session focused on the golf-specific exercises which are key to many players that visit our world class resort.”
Established in 1860 and comprised of more than 5,000 active members, the Olympic Club is dedicated to the pursuit of amateur athletic excellence. It enjoys the distinction of being America’s oldest athletic club and is one of the first 100 golf clubs established in the United States. Site of the 1955, 1966, 1987 and 1998 U.S. Opens, it will again host that championship in 2012.
Located on the Dominican Republic’s southeast coast, the 7,000 acre Casa de Campo is renowned for its luxurious accommodations and world-class facilities, such as a new Leadbetter Golf Academy. The resort’s three courses include the Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog, which consistently ranks as the Caribbean’s best layout.
