PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 26, 2010) – There has been a lot of talk in the golf world of late about casual flings. GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora also is admitting publicly to a fling – but a fling of a different sort. He is embarking on a coast-to-coast spring fling that will take him to some of the most spectacular golf destinations in America.
Starting this week, with back-to-back shows from the Myrtle Beach area, GolfTalk Live will be traveling to a number of great golf destinations in an attempt to bring a bit of a different golf lifestyle to the listeners in the Greater Philadelphia area.
“After the winter that Philadelphians have had to endure, the least we at GolfTalk Live could do was visit some of these sites and try to send a bit of the warmth and sunshine back home over the air waves,” said Leodora, while flashing a wry smile. “It’s a tough and lonely job but somebody has to do it.”
The two shows from the Myrtle Beach area are part of a special year-long promotion with Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. GolfTalk Live listeners are encouraged to go to www.philly2myrtle.com and register for a chance to win free golf for a year in Myrtle Beach. The two live remote broadcasts will be coming from Glen Dornoch GC on Saturday, February 27 and the TPC at Myrtle Beach on Saturday, March 6.
Later in March, GolfTalk Live travels to the spectacular Greg Norman-designed Parkland GC, just west of Boca Raton Florida. The live remote broadcast will take place on Saturday, March 20 – right in the middle of Parkland’s festive member-guest tournament. Member-guest time at Parkland always draws a great crowd, so be on the lookout for a very special guest or two on that week’s show.
On May 1, GolfTalk Live will visit one of the most breath-taking locations on the continent, the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay. Perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this piece of heaven slightly south of San Francisco is indescribable. The combination of 36 holes of incredible golf architecture, the luxury of the Ritz Carlton and the natural beauty of the setting will make for an unforgettable show.
Finally, on May 14, GolfTalk Live travels to the southern home of golf, Pinehurst. With our favorite golf writer, Mike Kern of the Daily News, alongside for the week, we will explore the wonders of the Pinehurst Resort and report back on why this destination is held in such high esteem by Americans, and golfers from around the world.
“We’ve put together a very ambitious schedule for this spring,” said Leodora. “There’s a little something for every traveling golfer in our assortment of travel shows. And, for those who can’t get away this year, maybe we can help them enjoy these resorts vicariously through our reports. As always, our goal at GolfTalk Live is to try to bring the highest level of golf information and entertainment to our listeners.”
For the third time in the last four years, the GolfTalk Live radio show was honored as one of the top golf radio shows in America by the International Network of Golf. At the annual Media Awards presentation by the International Network of Golf during January’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, GolfTalk Live received the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award in the radio category.
GolfTalk Live airs 52 weeks a year from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP 990-AM and on www.wntp.com. It also can be heard any time during the week after the show airs, by going to the website, www.golftalklive.net.
