BRENTWOOD, Tenn., March 1, 2010 … Softspikes®, the world’s best-selling golf cleat brand, captured a weekend sweep across all professional golf tours, including total domination of the plastic cleat field at the PGA TOUR’s Waste Management Phoenix Open for the third consecutive year, while also capturing the Nationwide Tour’s Panama Claro Championship and the LPGA’s HSBC Women’s Champions, according to the Independent Darrell Survey.
As part of a stellar weekend on the PGA TOUR, 71% of the overall plastic cleat field at the Waste Management Phoenix Open chose to wear Softspikes cleats, including Pulsar®, the #1 Cleat on TOUR and Black Widow® Tour™, golf’s first adjustable cleat. In addition to capturing the plastic cleat field on the Nationwide and LPGA Tours, 34 of the top 42 finishers at the Nationwide Tour’s Panama Claro Championship, and 20 of the top 32 finishers at the LPGA’s HSBC Women’s Champions tournament, utilized Softspikes’ arsenal of cleats.
“Softspikes had an incredible showing across all tours this weekend and we are especially thrilled at the fact that over 70% of the entire plastic cleat field at the Waste Management Phoenix Open chose to wear our cleats,” said John Hohman, Vice President of Marketing, PrideSports. “It’s always great to see both men and women professional players choose our stable of products.”
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
