Top-100 teacher Jim McLean describes the Y-Factor and how it is measured
MIAMI, Fl (March 9, 2010) – Jim McLean, one of golf’s Top-100 teachers (ranked No. 4), and owner of the No. 1 Ranked golf schools in the U.S. – the Jim McLean Golf Schools – hosts an all new episode of “The Jim McLean Lesson” on http://thegolfersnation.com.
Tonight it’s “The Y-Factor Defined”. This measurement in the golf swing, which is determined by looking straight on at the golfer, and measures how far the left shoulder (right shoulder for left-handed golfers) moves from the address position to the top of the swing, has proven to show a direct correlation as to how far a golfer can hit a golf ball. The Y-Factor was originally written about in 2002 for a piece that McLean had penned for Golf Digest, and is a continuation of McLean’s ground-breaking X-Factor.
Other idiosyncrasies of the Y-Factor are discussed in this edition of “The Jim McLean Lesson” such as the fact that as the golfer reaches the top of the backswing, not only does the left shoulder move, the right shoulder actually rises, and the left shoulder actually dips. To get the most out of the show, watch the Y-Factor Defined, and then access the archives for Jim’s show on the X-Factor.
