GolfLink places southwest Oklahoma’s premier golf-residential community course ahead of Southern Hills – site of numerous major championships
(Southwest Oklahoma) – The Territory Golf and Country Club, just outside the quaint town of Duncan and 75 minutes from Oklahoma City, has been named No. 3 in GolfLink’s list of the “Best Oklahoma Golf Courses.” The Randy Heckenkemper-designed course finished ahead of Southern Hills Country Club – host of three U.S. Opens and four PGA Championships.
GolfLink’s list of “Best Oklahoma Golf Courses” details the top public and private golf courses in the state. The GolfLink list is calculated from an objective range of factors, including the preferences of up to a million or more visitors to its Web site every month, which contributes to this list being a definitive guide and credible, objective source.
“The GolfLink recognition is a wonderful compliment,” says Rick Braught, who along with his wife Barbara, owns and operates The Territory. “From Day One, our goal has been to develop a course, club and community which provide an exceptional lifestyle experience.”
The Territory’s telling brand promise – Golf & Community as it Should Be – underscores Braught’s goals for The Territory.
A modified target-style design that unfolds over rolling hills and through fields of native vegetation, the course stretches to 7,100 yards and features multiple teeing areas to accommodate all players. A state-of-the-art training facility and a three-hole short course add to the experience and options.
Off the golf course, family-focused amenities include a multi-sport recreation court and luxurious pool where guests relax and families enjoy Flick ‘n Floats – “dive-in movies” shown on a large, inflatable movie screen. For culinary aficionados, Chef Keith Zinke plies his trade in the Prairie House, where delicious meals are joined by regular themed parties and wine tasting events.
