Less than a week later he qualifies for a spot at the British Open
IRVINE, CA – MARCH 11, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized worldwide amongst top touring golf professionals as the foremost leading wedge designer and manufacturer, announced today that the winner of the European Tour Maybank Malaysian Open played a FOURTEEN GOLF Hybrid club during the event. Days later, he finished tied for second at the Asian British Open international final qualifying to guarantee a spot at the 2010 British Open in St. Andrews.
“This outstanding young golfer has shown that he has what it takes to win and to qualify for a major Tour event,” said FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda. “We are happy that he has chosen to play our Hybrid club in tournament play. We congratulate him on his first victory of the season and look forward to watching him play at the British Open this summer.”
The 18-year-old South Korean winner edged out his childhood hero by one shot to claim his second career title and to become the second youngest winner in European Tour history. He birdied the final hole – after playing an incredible chip shot from the edge of the practice putting green behind a hospitality marquee – for a four-under-par 68 to top the leader board at 14 under.
The winner plays FOURTEEN GOLF’s Hybrid club which conforms to the 2010 groove regulations and provides forgiveness while achieving further distance and stability. The company prides itself in the attention to detail that the Hybrid club and all of its products receive during the manufacturing process. All products go through a rigorous inspection and only those that conform 100% to the highest product standards are allowed to enter the market.
The company spent years engineering a new trapezoidal shaped groove so the Hybrid club and FOURTEEN GOLF’s total product line would be in compliance with the new groove regulations effective in 2010 for the professional tours and 2014 for amateurs and tournaments.
FOURTEEN GOLF in Japan established itself in 1981 as a premier golf equipment design company. The highly successful venture developed exclusive designs for Titleist, Yamaha, Srixon (formerly Dunlop Japan), Wilson, PRGR, and many more. The original team was credited with developing the first hybrid iron and the highly popular “Citation” cavity iron by Power Bilt which was one of the most popular irons of the 1980s. In the year 2000, the business transitioned into branded design and manufacturing company.
The name “Fourteen” is based on the fundamental rule of golf which states that the player can carry up to 14 golf clubs in their bag. FOURTEEN GOLF strives to produce the best 14 clubs ever. FOURTEEN GOLF aims to achieve the ultimate in club characteristics which allow golfers to hit shots they didn’t think possible. These clubs bring out the strength in a player. Like their “feather” moniker which represent the best scores in golf; a birdie, eagle, and albatross, these clubs will bring out the best scores for any golfer, professional or amateur.
