North Course’s 18th Hole Renovated And New Golf Packages Available
North Stonington, Conn., March 15, 2010 – Lake of Isles, the No. 1 daily-fee golf course in Connecticut is scheduled to open for the 2010 season on April 1. This year, golfers will see a different look on the famed finishing hole of the North Course. Additionally, Lake of Isles, in conjunction with Foxwoods and The Spa at Norwich Inn, is offering several overnight packages.
What is new for Lake of Isles for 2010:
– North Course, No. 18 has a new look: Under the direction of course designer Rees Jones, the par-4, 459-yard hole from the back tees, now gives golfers more options with wider landing areas and an extended fairway. The addition of grassed surfaces on the fairway side of the lake has shortened the carry from the tee. Also, the fairway bunker has been eliminated.
– New Golf Packages: Lake of Isles will offer golf packages this year with a choice of accommodations at Foxwoods’ MGM Grand, Grand Pequot Tower or Great Cedar Hotel. Golf packages range from $225 – $350 per person, based on double occupancy. Lake of Isles also offers golf packages with The Spa at Norwich Inn, another Mashantucket Pequot property. Golf packages range from $215 – $445 per person, based on double occupancy.
– April Rates, $105: Lake of Isles has a special April rate of $105 per person. The rate includes 18 holes with a cart, range balls, bag tag and complimentary bottle of water. In season rates, June – September, range from $165 – $195.
– Hank Haney Golf Academy: Hank Haney Golf Academy at Lake of Isles offers private and group instruction and one to three day golf schools. Also available our Ladies Golf Weekend programs. The golf academy is the only teaching facility in the Northeast using Golf Biodynamics 3D swing analysis.
“We are looking forward to another outstanding season at Lake of Isles,” said Archie Cart, Lake of Isles’ General Manager. “Despite some heavy snowfalls this winter, the courses both came through nicely. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the mild temperatures of late are a sign of things to come. It certainly wouldn’t break my heart to be able to get an early start on the season.”
Lake of Isles has won numerous awards since opening in May 2005. The North Course has consistently been ranked No.1 Public Course in Connecticut by Golfweek magazine and in Golf Digest’s Top 5 Best of State rankings. The par-72 North Course stretches over 7200 yards from the championship tees. There are five sets of tees to make the course a fair test for golfers of all ability levels.
