Scenic Carter Moorish Design Vaults Up Yearly Rankings
(COPPEROPOLIS, CA) – Saddle Creek Resort, located in the Central Sierra Foothills of Calaveras County just two hours from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from Sacramento, is ranked No. 15 in California in Golfweek’s “Best You Can Play, State-by-State” rankings for 2010.
This distinction marks a significant rise up the annual list for the Carter Moorish-designed course from No. 18 in 2009. The survey, which included hundreds of California courses, examined overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria. The full list of courses is available in the March 12 issue of Golfweek.
“We are honored that Saddle Creek was once again included, and even rose, in Golfweek’s prestigious list of the state’s best golf courses,” says Bob Higgins, General Manager. “Given the number of first-rate golf designations in California, we appreciate that our guests recognize our commitment to excellent course maintenance and exemplary customer service. Our high rate of repeat business tells us our efforts are appreciated.”
Saddle Creek’s challenging-yet-fair design and sublime conditioning have led to numerous state-wide and national accolades in addition to the Golfweek acclaim. Accommodations for Saddle Creek guests feature luxurious Bungalows that are within a few paces of both the golf course and lodge and within a minute’s walk of the Copper Grille-a culinary destination of Calaveras County.
Green fees are $69 weekdays (Monday-Friday) and $99 for weekends and holidays. Cart and unlimited range balls are included.
Says Higgins, “Given our high caliber of golf and full array of resort amenities, all offered at such reasonable prices, makes Saddle Creek one the best values for a golf destination anywhere.”
