SAN DIEGO, CA. – Heritage Golf Group is pleased to announce that Chris Ayles, Director of Instruction at TPC Prestancia in Sarasota, Florida, was recently named Teacher of the Year of the Southwestern Chapter of the North Florida Section of the PGA of America. Chapter award winners were selected at the end of February 2010 by the Southwester Chapter NFPGA awards committee.
The Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a PGA Professional who is an outstanding teacher of golf among the ranks of PGA membership. The award is based on a professional’s overall performance in teaching; unusual, innovative and special teaching programs initiated or implemented; articles published; as well as outstanding golfers the professional has instructed.
“Chris has elevated our instruction program to an incredibly high level over the past few years. He is a true Ambassador for TPC Prestancia as well as the PGA of America,” said Jim Poole, General Manager of TPC Prestancia.
“I am honored to have been named the Teacher of the Year for our PGA section,” said Ayles. “Being able to be a successful mentor throughout the years is truly the most rewarding part of my job.”
The NFPGA is a group of approximately 1500 PGA Members and Apprentices serving the needs of the golfers of North Florida. The not-for-profit service organization was founded in 1979 and is one of the 41 Sections that make up the PGA of America. The North Florida Section is the fourth largest in the PGA.
Ayles is a life member of the PGA of America and has been the Director of Instruction at TPC Prestancia since January 2008. He previously served at several area clubs including Longboat Key Club, and as part owner of Plant City Golf Club and as the owner of Terra Ceia Bay Golf & Tennis Club.
