MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The new Project X driver shaft drove past the competition and landed a win at the Puerto Rico Open, its second PGA TOUR victory of the weekend. The Project X driver shaft had previously captured the victory at the World Golf Championships – CA Championship in Miami.
The rookie champion of the Puerto Rico Open shot a 19-under-par 269 and set a new tournament record, playing the new Project X graphite shaft in his driver. He tied for 11th in driving distance amid a competitive field that included former PGA Championship and British Open champions. The winner also wielded Dynamic Gold shafts in his irons and scored in the top 25 for greens in regulation.
“Two PGA tour wins in the same weekend for the new Project X graphite shaft is exciting because we worked closely with tour players for more than two years developing the Project X design,” says Don Brown, product development manager and designer of the new Project X shafts. “The unparalleled tip stability of Project X reduces spin unlike any other tour shaft which provides longer carry and a flatter landing angle even on a fade or missed shot. It truly is the next generation in graphite shafts.”
Designed and manufactured by True Temper, the Project X driver shaft reduces spin by up to 500 RPM compared to other low-spin Tour model shafts by combining a stable butt section with a constant taper bend profile and by reinforcing the tip with two additional wraps of super high-modulus graphite. The Project X graphite shafts are available in woods and hybrids.
