Carlsbad, Calif. (March 29, 2010) – After multiple rounds of extensive testing and intense competition against other outerwear companies, adidas Golf has announced that its ClimaProof® All Weather Caddy Suit has been selected as the official supplier to the Bandon Dunes caddy force.
Challenged with creating a caddy suit durable enough to withstand the Pacific Northwest’s ever-changing weather conditions, adidas Golf spent two years testing and re-testing prototypes until eventually submitting a product worthy of living up to Bandon Dunes caddy demands. In August of 2009, Bandon Dunes made their choice and granted adidas Golf with the bid to become the official supplier.
“Caddies can work as much as five to seven days a week while working 365 days a year – rain or shine. These suits need to be durable, comfortable, breathable and water resistant,” said Tiss Dahan, Senior Director of Global Apparel. “The challenge for our team was to build the ultimate caddy suit that not only prevented sun, wind and water penetration, but that also fit well, provided comfort and was extremely durable. It is an honor and a privilege for everyone who worked on this to be selected as the official Bandon Dunes Caddy Suit.”
“Knowing Bandon Dunes caddies have intensely-tested and approve our suit is the ultimate compliment and further validates the fact that our ClimaProof Storm product works in any condition, “said Harry Arnett, VP of adidas Golf Brand and Product Marketing “Similar to how ClimaCool® reinvented the golf apparel market with validation from Tour Pros around the world, the success of ClimaProof outerwear has been taken to a new level with the endorsement by Bandon Dunes. We believe our innovation in outerwear will redefine the category in the same way that ClimaCool has redefined the golf shirt.”
“Our caddies require a durable walking suit that will breathe as the sun beats off the Pacific Ocean, but also keeps them dry and comfortable with any condition that might pass through,” said Josh Lesnik, president of KemperSports. “There’s no doubt that golf is more enjoyable when you are properly outfitted. The adidas Golf Caddy Suit will ensure that our caddies are able to serve our resort guests in total comfort.”
As of week March 22nd, around 350 Bandon Dunes caddies began wearing the adidas Golf ClimaProof Storm All Weather Caddy Suit. Combining re-enforced construction, modern materials and industry-leading features to provide the best possible protection, the suit incorporates lightweight, reinforced double-layer shoulder inserts, 4-way mechanical stretch for easy movement and comfort, fully seam-sealed waterproof zippers, waterproof protection to 20,000mm and breathability of 26,700 g/m2/24hrs.
A retail version of the caddy suit, geared toward benefiting the golfer, will be available for purchase separately this coming May as the ClimaProof Storm Ultimate Jacket and ClimaProof Storm Ultimate Pant. Both will be offered in one colorway, Black, feature the same performance and protection benefits of the Bandon Dunes Caddy Suit, and include a three-year waterproof warranty. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the ClimaProof Storm Ultimate Jacket is $275 and $225 for the ClimaProof Storm Ultimate Pant. For more information, visit www.adidasgolf.com.
