Arizona State retains top spot in D-I poll
NEW YORK, NY-The third Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, will appear in the April 5 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now: http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours-news/blogs/college-golf/2010/03/golf-worldngca-womens-coaches-2.html
Arizona State remained the No. 1 team in the poll, earning 21 of the 30 first-place votes. The Sun Devils have won three times during the regular season and host the Ping/ASU Invitational April 9-11 before playing in the Pac-10 Championship later this month.
No. 2 in the poll is UCLA, which earned six first-place votes. The Bruins claimed their first victory of the season last weekend, taking the title at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.
Rounding out the top-five are Auburn (No. 3), USC (No. 4) and Duke (No. 5).
New to the top-10 is Florida, jumping from 14th to 10th. The Gators won the Central District Invitational in late February.
One new school entered the top 25: TCU at No. 23. The Horned Frogs have finished second (Central District), second (Tiger Wave Classic) and fourth (Betsy Rawls) in their last three starts.
