STX Envision TR Played At Shell Houston Open For A Solid Top-10 Finish

BALTIMORE, MD. – April 5, 2010 – STX, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the STX Envision TR Putter was put into play on the Redstone Tournament Golf Course for a notable sixth place finish at the Shell Houston Open.

Houston’s only PGA Tour event, the Shell Houston Open, helped prepare most of the field for the upcoming Masters. The course itself is a challenging 7,400 yards in length and demands pinpoint iron striking as well trajectory control. But putting decides who wins and who brings home a paycheck.

This past weekend, the STX Envision TR Putter helped a burgeoning PGA Professional take home his largest portion of the prize money for the 2010 PGA Tour season — $201,550. He shot a 67, 70, 74, and a 68 for a total of 279 and his third Top-10 finish this year. This American also gained 95 Fed Ex points and confidence going deeper into the season.

According to STX Director of Golf Steve Henneman, “Putting does close out a tournament or at least keep a golfer in contention. This week a gifted PGA Professional trusted STX and its Envision TR to navigate the challenging greens on the Redstone course and it paid off.”

The Envision TR Putter is the perfect line extension for Chief Club Designer Bob Engman who continues to fuse form and function. The highly inventive Envision TR boasts square angles and bold lines to ensure a proper address.
The square shaped head distributes weight further out towards the heel and toe for a higher moment of inertia. The geometric shapes chosen by Engman make it easy for golfers to see when the putter is not properly aligned throughout the stroke.

“The greens on the Redstone Tournament Golf Course vary greatly from those at Augusta, so the professionals using a STX Putter will likely change their insert to adapt to the conditions,” adds Henneman.

For a variety of responses, the Envision TR is available in the black, red and green insert options. STX offers better putting through chemistry. The black insert is the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and resilience rate plus increased dwell time. Those characteristics are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for true control. And, for golfers who prefer a firmer feel, the green insert provides a harder feel with less resilience.

A sophisticated gunmetal finish compliments the bullet back style that epitomizes the STX style. The Envision TR is machined from a 304 stainless steel to ensure precise angles and a perfectly flat striking surface.

The double bend shaft on the Envision TR moves the hands forward for proper alignment. All signature series putters will be available in lengths of 34, and 35 inch. The suggested retail for the Envision TR is $159.

About STX
STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” In the mid-90s the company’s research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.
Behind the company’s uniquely styled putter heads is Robert “Bob” Engman, STX Putters’ Chief Club Designer. A world-renowned sculptor with works in the Hirshhorn Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, Bob is also a three-time senior champion at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.
When Bob blends his skills with the STX engineers, the resulting putter design is a true work of art featuring face insert technology and the ultimate in performance.
