LAKE MARY, FL – In June of 1999, Pinehurst Resort played host to one of the most memorable U.S. Opens in history, when Payne Stewart locked up the title with a par-saving putt on the 72nd hole.
In 2005, the U.S. Open returned to Pinehurst (Michael Campbell’s victory). And in 2014, Pinehurst will become the first ever to host back-to-back the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open championships.
While those USGA majors join hundreds of other big-time golf competitions to have taken place at “The Home of American Golf,” a milestone event of a different kind will happen at Pinehurst next month.
