Contest awards one lucky golf fan the chance to walk Augusta with Wilson Staff
advisory members Padraig Harrington and Ricky Barnes
CHICAGO, April 09, 2010 – Wilson Staff today announced the winner of its 2010 “Walk Augusta” competition. Jeff Eckhoff from Sioux Falls, S.D. has won the opportunity to follow three-time Major Champion Padraig Harrington on his quest for the green jacket at the Masters Tournament taking place April 5-11 at Augusta National Golf Club. Wilson Staff hosted the “Walk Augusta” competition to help build excitement for its two brand ambassadors playing in the tournament.
During the “Walk Augusta” promotion, fans that purchased a set of Wilson Staff’s award-winning Di9 irons between Feb. 1 and March 28, 2010 were able to register online to win at www.wilsonstaff.com. Jeff Eckhoff was randomly selected from thousands of registered applicants. He won two round-trip flights, hotel accommodations and tickets for rounds three and four (Saturday and Sunday) of The Masters Tournament. Coincidentally, he was notified of his winnings on his first day out on the course with the Di9 irons, with which he posted an eagle from 90 yards.
“We are proud to offer one lucky fan the chance of a lifetime,” said Tim Clarke, Wilson Golf’s general manager. “To walk the course at a Major tournament, let alone the Masters, with a three-time Major winner is about as inspirational of a prize as we could dream up. Our brand is energized, and we are excited to cheer on our Wilson Staff Advisory Members on TOUR on this historic weekend.”
The 2010 Masters Tournament features Wilson Staff Advisory Members Padraig Harrington and Ricky Barnes. Harrington won his first Major at the 2007 Open Championship at Carnoustie Golf Links. He went on to win the 2008 U.S. Open and PGA Championship and was named 2008 PGA of America Player of the Year. This year’s tournament will be his 10th Masters, which includes three top-10 finishes. As he has throughout his 10-year tenure as a Wilson Staff Advisory Member, Harrington will continue to contribute to the development of Wilson Staff clubs.
Barnes secured a spot in this year’s tournament by claiming a T-2 finish at the 2009 U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage Black with prototype FG Tour irons. He set the record for the lowest 36-hole score in Major championship history.
Both Harrington and Barnes are playing Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and carrying the Wilson Staff Tour Bag at Augusta National.
