Premier course in North Carolina will feature nation’s best junior golfers
WINSTON SALEM, NC, April 14, 2010 – AccuSport International, Inc. and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) today announced the Championship Course at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C. will host the inaugural AccuSport Championship hosted by Webb Simpson, August 16 – 19.
Tanglewood Park, host to the 1974 PGA Championship, is consistently ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top 25 public courses in the United States and North Carolina’s #1 public course, according to North Carolina Magazine.
“We are thrilled to host an AJGA event in North Carolina, which has some of the richest golf tradition in the United States,” said Don Thorup, President AccuSport International. “Tanglewood is perfect in so many respects. It’s a very challenging course, and at the same time, just minutes from both our international headquarters and Wake Forest University where Webb Simpson went to school.” Webb Simpson is one of the up and coming stars of the PGA Tour, and an excellent example of a local player who came through the AJGA system.
AccuSport Commitment to Junior Golf
The AccuSport Championship hosted by Webb Simpson is just one component of AccuSport’s position as “Official Launch Monitor of the AJGA,” and is a key element to the Company’s emerging commitment to junior golf.
“We feel strongly about supporting junior golf programs throughout the country because we want to provide young golfers with every opportunity to grow, not only as athletes, but also as young adults,” and Don Thorup.
AccuSport has recently become more involved in the development of young golfers in the area. In addition to the AJGA, The First Tee of North Carolina as well as a host of local junior tournaments have all benefitted through volunteerism or corporate sponsorship.
At the AccuSport Championship hosted by Webb Simpson, as well as at the 83 other AJGA events throughout the year, participants will have the ability to use the Vector Launch monitors to create their own Vector Data profile that will be housed on the AJGA website. This will create a unique opportunity for aspiring junior golfers to showcase themselves to college coaches and teachers.
AccuSport’s Vector launch monitors provide players with data on their launch angle, ball speed, backspin, side spin and side angle instantaneously. AccuSport recently unveiled its latest launch monitor, the VectorX, the first and only portable launch monitor that does not require an external computer connection.
“We hope that Tanglewood’s rich history and great layout, will provide the AJGA golfers with a memorable experience during the AccuSport Championship hosted by Webb Simpson,” said Mike Wilcox – Head Professional at Tanglewood Park. “It’s a great opportunity for us to partner with AccuSport and Webb Simpson, both of whom have such strong ties to our local golf community.”
