HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – April 19, 2010 – Srixon® Sports, a world leader in golf club and golf ball technology, congratulates Srixon® staffers Jim Furyk for his PGA playoff victory at the 2010 Verizon Heritage and Komei Oda for his playoff win at the Token Homemate Cup, on the Japan Golf Tour (JGTO).
Furyk defeated fellow Srixon® staffer Brian Davis on the first playoff hole after Davis ticked a loose reed during his backswing and called a two-stroke penalty on himself. “Awkward for him to lose that way, and a little awkward for me to win,” said Furyk. “It’s obviously a tough loss for him and I respect and admire what he did.” Davis drained an 18-footer for birdie on the final hole of regulation to force a playoff against Furyk. Davis’ errant approach shot on the first playoff hole hit the left edge of the green, rattled off the rocks bordering Calibogue Sound and settled among some grass. “It was one of those things,” said Davis. “I thought I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and I thought we’d check on TV, and indeed there was movement.” Davis immediately conceded victory to Furyk, who putted out for his 15th PGA Tour win and second win since March.

On the JGTO, at the Token Homemate Cup, Srixon® staffer Komei Oda won a three-way playoff to earn his second consecutive victory at the event. Another fellow Srixon® staffer, Satoru Hirota, finished tied for second place in the tournament. Oda played a Srixon® Z-STAR™ golf ball, a Srixon® Z-TX™ driver (9.5) and Z-TX™ fairway woods (15, 18), Srixon® irons, a Cleveland® CG15™ wedge (52) and a Cleveland® 588™ wedge (58).
