MESA, Ariz. – Dixon Golf CEO William Carey announced today that Dixon Golf, manufacturers of the world’s first high performance, 100 percent eco-friendly golf ball, will participate in an Earth Day Recycling Event sponsored by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce Green Committee. The event, which takes place at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, will run from 3 to 7 pm on April 22.
“Dixon Golf is proud to participate in this event and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day,” said Carey. “Our company continuously strives to be as green as possible. Additionally, this event falls in line with our own recycling program – it’s a perfect fit.”
It is estimated that between 200 and 300 million golf balls are discarded in the United States every year – enough to make a line of golf balls from Los Angeles to London, AND BACK!
Not only has Dixon Golf created a fully recyclable golf ball, it has developed a recycling program to back that up. Dixon’s golf ball recycling program is the first of its kind in the world, and allows consumers the opportunity to get cash credits good for any Dixon Golf ball purchase, while also helping to protect the environment.
Any Dixon Golf ball brought in to an official Dixon Golf retail outlet or golf course will be good for a $1 ball for ball credit toward the purchase of any new Dixon Earth golf balls. Those balls will then be recycled to make new products such as field turf and playground equipment.
Other brand name golf balls are not yet recyclable, however, Dixon Golf still encourages people to bring in other used golf balls so they can research and develop effective ways to recycle these balls as well. As an incentive, Dixon Golf will give a $0.50 ball for ball credit for any other brand of golf ball recycled in a Dixon Golf Recycle Center.
