IRVINE, CA – MAY 2, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized worldwide amongst top touring golf professionals as the foremost leading wedge designer and manufacturer, announced today that the MT-28 V5 is now available in a new black finish and that the company has added a left handed model to its MT-28 V5 offerings.
The engineers at FOURTEEN GOLF are always striving for perfection and the new black finish is the perfect example of this. According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “Our wedges have always been popular in black particularly by the professionals. But this new black finish is processed differently. It lasts longer and has a deeper and richer color.”
For durability and protection from the rust, the new MT-28 V5 black finish is manufactured with a chrome black finish. This chrome coating procedure not only assists in its maintenance but provides the same or similar feeling of a non-plated finish. It also minimizes glare.
In addition to the new black finish, FOURTEEN GOLF has added a left-handed model to its collection of MT-28 V5 wedges. The company knows how important this demographic is and wanted to introduce it earlier this year but needed to make some minor technical adjustments.
“We are pleased to offer another model option to our popular MT-28 V5 wedge series,” stated COO Marcy Kamoda, “Left-handed golfers will enjoy all the benefits of this high-performance wedge. I also think they will be very impressed with how well the new grooves perform.”
In preparation for the new groove policy on the professional tours such as the PGA and LPGA, the company spent years engineering a new head and groove combination for the MT-28 V5 that would be in compliance with the USGA’s requirements and yet maintained the ultimate spin rate. The company not only met that objective but exceeded their expectations.
For exceptional spin and control, the entirely new unique trapezoidal shaped groove works in unison with the MT-28 V5 highly engineered head. In fact, this combination was tested in a variety of conditions and it outperformed the MT-28 V4 in wet soggy conditions and maintained the same spin rate in dry conditions. The trapezoidal groove also undergoes a mirror-face milling process which precisely and carefully mills each groove for optimal spin.
The MT-28 V5 wedge features a classically design head which features its signature FOURTEEN “reverse taper design” but has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.
The MT-28 V5 head is manufactured with a Nickel Chrome molybdenum alloy finish which conforms to the 2010 USGA club regulations. It is available in both a chrome and non-plated black finish. The wedge comes in a variety of lofts, a 50, 52, 56/12, and a 58/12 degree. A left-handed chrome finish model is also available. Two steel shafts, a Dynamic Golf and NS Pro 950GH are available. A proprietary rubber grips finishes these classic wedges.
