NEW YORK, NY-The fifth and final Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). UCLA remained the top team in the poll, earning 20 of the 32 first-place votes. As the NCAA Regionals begin this week, the Bruins are the No. 1 seed in the West Regional, being contested at Stanford (Calif.) GC. UCLA won two of its last three tournaments of the 2009-10 season.
Arizona State, the defending NCAA champions, is the No. 2 team in the poll, earning the other 12 first-place votes. The Sun Devils begin their title defense as the No. 1 seed in the Central Regional, taking place at Otter Creek GC in Bloomington, Ind.
Fresh off winning its first SEC women’s title, Alabama moved into the No. 3 spot in the poll. Rounding out the top-five are Auburn (No. 4) and Duke (No. 5).
No new teams joined the top-10 or the top-25 this week. The biggest mover in the poll was Vanderbilt, runner up at the SEC Championship, which jumped from 21st to 16th.
