NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 6, 2010 – 9600 Turnberry LLC has selected KemperSports to manage Turnberry Country Club in Lakewood, Ill. The family-friendly private club, which is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, is scheduled to re-open for the 2010 season on Friday, May 7.
The 6,900-yard, par-72 layout, which was built by E. Lawrence Packard in 1972, has mature trees, elevation changes and plenty of bunkers protecting consistently well-maintained greens. In 2009, the club was voted “Best Country Club” in McHenry County by the Northwest Herald.
“I am excited and optimistic about having KemperSports as a partner and their plans to create an active, welcoming and fun private club environment at Turnberry Country Club,” said 9600 Turnberry LLC spokesman Jim Thorpe. “KemperSports is highly-respected in the Chicago golf market and we look forward to utilizing the company’s private club expertise to re-energize the club.”
In addition to the par-72 championship golf course, Turnberry Country Club features a 30,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, four tennis courts, a swimming pool and a recently renovated banquet facility that can serve as many as 300 guests.
