BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Students and graduates from the Golf Academy of America (GAA) campus in Orlando, Fla., recently enjoyed the rare opportunity to participate in the Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. At the pro events, GAA students and graduates interacted with sponsors, special guests and players while getting a chance to expand their golf industry experience.

“The Tavistock Cup and Arnold Palmer Invitational are extremely well-known events in the golfing industry,” says GAA Campus Director of Orlando Brad Turner. “We are thrilled our students were allowed to participate and gain this valuable hands-on experience.”

Considered the most prestigious private golf event in the world, the Tavistock Cup featured players who have a combined 54 major championships and more than 725 worldwide victories. The event was played at Isleworth GC and broadcasted live on Golf Channel. More than 50 GAA students and graduates assisted the Tavistock Group with tournament scoring, special events and crowd movement.

Hosted by “The King” himself, the Arnold Palmer Invitational was played at Bay Hill GC with more than 200 GAA Orlando students participating as caddies for the events’ Pro Ams. More than 25 students and graduates additionally assisted the Bay Hill Golf staff in the Golf Shop & Merchandise Tent. Those assisting the Bay Hill Golf Staff received a “behind the scenes” look at a PGA Tournament set up and the Merchandising for an event, which welcomed more than 100,000 spectators during the week.

The Golf Academy of America leads the industry in golf education and features four campuses in major golf markets – Phoenix, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and San Diego. The GAA was founded in 1974 and is today accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation.
