Premier golfing facility becomes one of first in northern California to utilize iPhone technology
(SEASIDE, Calif.) — Bayonet Black Horse, the 36-hole, full-bentgrass facility on the Monterey Peninsula, has launched an Apple iPhone app, becoming one of the first golf courses in Northern California to embrace the technology, available immediately at iTunes, free of charge.
Using the Bayonet Black Horse app, players can take advantage of tee time specials featured on golfnow.com, view rates, read about the courses’ storied history and scan the menu at the Bayonet Black Horse Bar & Grill.
The app also provides users with instant access to Bayonet Black Horse’s online store, where golfers can purchase a wide variety of items, from men’s and women’s polo shirts to golf gift certificates.
In addition to golf course information, the app contains a feature, linking users to “The Enclave at Cypress Grove,” a 400-acre planned, residential golf resort community located on Bayonet Black Horse.
“By launching an iPhone app, Bayonet Black Horse is giving golfers instant, convenient access to all of the details they’ll need regarding one of Northern California’s most sought after playing experiences,” says Dick Fitzgerald, project director for owner/operator Seaside Resort Development. “Whether they’re booking a tee time or shopping at our online store, people will be provided with everything Bayonet Black Horse, right on their phones.”
Bayonet Black Horse was upgraded during a recent $14 million renovation by Gene Bates. The Bayonet course hosted qualifying for this year’s U.S. Open and has been selected to host PGA TOUR Second Stage Q-School in November.
To download the Bayonet Black Horse iPhone app free of charge visit www.iTunes.com and search “Bayonet.” For more information about Bayonet Black Horse call (831) 899.PAR1.
About Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Club
Bayonet, with its narrow playing corridors and steep, penal bunkering, has long been considered the most difficult test of golf on the Monterey Peninsula. The par-72, 7,104-yard course has retained its famous bite after the recent renovation by award-winning architect Gene Bates, but playability and strategic options have been greatly improved. The uphill, dogleg right, 476-yard, par-4 ninth hole exemplifies the course’s significant challenge. Black Horse, a 7,024-yard, par-72 layout, features sweeping vistas of the Pacific and is highlighted by fescue-framed fairways, bunkers with distinctive, serrated edges and slickly-contoured greens. The par-3 15th, created during the renovation, faces the bay and is sure to emerge as one of the great holes on the Peninsula.
Getting There: The Monterey Peninsula Airport offers commercial and charter air service, including direct flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas. San Jose International Airport and San Francisco International Airport serve the area and are one and two hours north of Bayonet Black Horse, respectively.
