Harry Potter fans will enjoy this! Families who stay at the Ugadale Golf Cottages receive complimentary tickets to the Scottish Owl Centre. As Scotland’s only owl centre, you have a unique opportunity to get close to these awesome birds. Meet face to face with birds that you’ve only heard as a distant twit-twoo! You’ll discover many varieties, from the giant Eurasian Eagle Owl and magnificent Great Grey Owl to the tiny Scops Owl. Set close to the open sea, the Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory is a small building built for the purpose of watching and photographing seabirds and wildlife in their natural environment. Kids Golf Free at Machrihanish Dunes and Earn Their Green Golf Certification
During your stay at The Village at Machrihanish Dunes, enjoy unlimited golf with your kids on the Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course, where kids under 16 always play free. Kids will receive daily complimentary club rentals and sleeve of golf balls during Family Fun Month in August. Junior tees boxes have been established so that young golfers can enjoy the natural layout of Machrihanish Dunes. Family Tee Times are available on request. Kids will also enjoy a complimentary round of golf on the wee course at the world-acclaimed Machrihanish Golf Club.
In addition, each child will receive a special Green Golfing Certification when he/she participates in one of our daily golf clinics conducted by our resident Course Guides and Golf Professionals. The Ugadale Cottages at The Village at Machrihanish Dunes are situated in the heart of Machrihanish, only moments away from Campbeltown on the Mull of Kintyre.
The Ugadale Cottages offer guests a taste of new luxury: a fresh approach to hospitality scarcely found. Each cottage has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge. About Machrihanish Dunes and the SSSI
Machrihanish Dunes was created by Scotsman and Golf Architect David McLay Kidd and is the first course ever to have been built on a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Machrihanish Dunes is a testament to what can be achieved when golf course developers work with nature, rather than against it. With SSSI status, the land which Machrihanish Dunes inhabits is amongst the most protected in Scotland. Pristine and beautiful, the site is not only the largest sand dune in the region but is also home to five rare types of orchid. Some, including the regal pyramid orchid, cannot be found anywhere else in Kintyre.
Working hand-in-hand with Scottish National Heritage, David McLay Kidd and the course’s developers carefully created Machrihanish Dunes in a way that would have the least possible impact on the environment. Machrihanish Dunes was built without machinery and in a way that hearkens back to the way courses were designed at the turn of the 20th Century, when Old Tom Morris was at work next door at Machrihanish Golf Club designing the famed links course there.
