Bangkok Gears Up For Major International Golf Events

Singapore (May 19): The organisers of the 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Summit are pushing ahead with plans to make the Summit the biggest event of its kind to be staged so far in Asia.

In a statement released today, Mike Sebastian, managing director of Asia Pacific Golf Development Conferences, the producer and owner of the Summit said, “We are not changing our minds at all – Bangkok is good to go for the 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Summit and we are working doubly hard to make it a truly memorable event for all our delegates.”

“If you are in Bangkok right now, you will notice that life is proceeding as normal with the usual hustle and bustle that Bangkok is renowned for,” Sebastian pointed out.

He went on to add, “the civil disorder has been blown way out of proportion. It is confined to an area no larger than one quarter square mile and when you consider that Bangkok is a teeming city of 8 million people covering a sprawling spread of 586 square miles, you get a better picture.”

“If we thought for one moment that Bangkok was unsafe, we would have pulled the plug on all of our shows – the Inaugural PGA Conference was held there recently and it was a huge success with a turn-out of more than 300 delegates,” Sebastian said.

According to him, local agencies like the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), are solidly behind the staging of the Summit and will collectively pull together to make the 2010 event the biggest to date.

“The Thai Golf Course Association (the Summit’s host) is working with all of its members to ensure that owners and developers of golf courses are well represented at the Summit,” Sebastian revealed.

Bangkok will play host to three major events in October and these include:
* The 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Summit
* The 2010 Asia Pacific Golf Industry Show
* The 2010 Inaugural Golf Course Superintendents of Asia Summit

“Bangkok and Thailand will be the most gracious hosts that anyone can expect to have – rest assured that every effort will be made to make all of the events in October, events to be remembered, both in terms of content and experience,” Sebastian added.
