Oklahoma State retains top spot in D-I poll

NEW YORK, NY-The fifth and final Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the May 24 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online: http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-tours-news/blogs/college-golf/2010/05/golf-worldnike-golf-mens-coach-4.html
Oklahoma State ends the season the same place it started the 2009-10 campaign: atop the rankings in the coaches’ poll. The Cowboys claimed 12 of the 20 first-place votes as they prepare to play in the NCAA Regionals this weekend in Alpharetta, Ga. OSU won four times this season, including the Big 12 Championship last month.
Pac-10 rivals Stanford and Washington sit in the No. 2 and 3 positions. The Cardinal received one first-place vote while the Huskies earned five. Both schools are No. 1 seeds at their respective regionals.
Rounding out the top-five are Texas A&M (No. 4), which received one first-place vote, and Oregon (No. 5), which garnered a first-place vote as well.
Florida and Arizona State crept back into the top-10, taking the 8 and 9 spots, after being ranked Nos. 11 and 13 in the previous coaches’ poll. Arkansas joined the top-25, in the No. 25 position.
