Biloxi, MS: The Oaks Golf Club will play host to the historic 2010 Mississippi Gulf Coast Amateur Championship June 19 20. This 4 ½ Star Golf Digest rated courses has hosted the PGA Nationwide Tour and many other events. “I am looking forward to hosting the best amateurs in the region,” says Russ Bloom, The Oaks Director of Golf. “The Oaks hosted the PGA Tour players on the Nationwide Tour and we know that it will be a great venue for this year’s Mississippi Gulf Coast Amateur Championship,” says Kevin Drum, Executive Director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Gulf Association.
This 36-hole stroke play event is open to all amateur participants and some of the best players on the coast have won it including Steve Wilson who recently won the USGA Mid-Amateur Championship. Players will be lighted after 18 holes of play with the top 20 participants and ties in the Championship Flight. All other flights will have approximately 15 players. The top 7 places in the Championship Flight will be awarded prizes. The top 5 places (or one-third of the field) in all other flights will be awarded flight prizes.
