Azinger Entertains Crowd At Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

Bionic staff pro tells Ryder Cup stories and promotes his new book

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Paul Azinger can tell a story with the best of them. His captivating style of speaking was captured last week at Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory when he addressed a crowd of about 200, many of them employees of the Hillerich & Bradsby Co., which owns Louisville Slugger.

Telling stories about the 2008 Ryder Cup, Azinger had the crowd laughing one minute and taking notes about strategy the next. His new book, Cracking the Code, recaptures the excitement of the U.S. victory at Louisville’s Valhalla Golf Club which Azinger masterminded as captain of the Ryder Cup team.

His appearance at Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory has a lot to do with the equipment Azinger uses on tour. He’s a staff pro for Bionic, the glove division of H&B, which is based in Louisville.

During the appearance, Azinger outlined the pod system of creating teams, which is based on the way Navy SEALs operate. He grouped players based on personalities, not ability. He gave the players ownership by allowing them to choose the at-large players.

While the book recaptures the strategy and stories, there’s one thing the book can’t accomplish. It can’t imitate Boo Weekley, Anthony Kim, Padraig Harrington and Lee Westwood the way Paul can when speaking to a crowd. Video segments of the address will be posted on Bionic’s website – www.bionicgloves.com – so that anyone can get a taste of Paul’s story-telling talents.

Bionic gloves are the only gloves designed by an orthopedic surgeon. Bionic offers high-performance athletic and recreational gloves for baseball, fitness (weight lifting), tennis, racquetball, gardening, motorcycle cruising, plus other sports and pastimes.
