IRVINE, CA – MAY 27, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized as a worldwide leader in wedge design and a known favorite amongst top touring golf professionals, proudly announced that the company and its equipment have been played to close 25 Top-10 finishes during the 2010 golf season.
The HP Byron Nelson provided great golfing entertainment as well as two PGA Top-10 finishes for FOURTEEN GOLF. Both professionals have been long time advocates and avid fans of the FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 Wedge Series.
“Both players at the HP Byron Nelson relied on our wedges to work their short game on the TPC Four Seasons golf course. The combination of the new grooves and new head design on the MT-28 V5 helped hold the tricky greens,” added Kamoda.
In preparation for the new groove policy on the professional tours such as the PGA and LPGA, the company spent years engineering a new head and groove combination for the MT-28 V5 that would be in compliance with the USGA’s requirements and yet maintained the ultimate spin rate. The company not only met that objective but also exceeded their expectations.
For exceptional spin and control, the entirely new unique trapezoidal shaped groove works in unison with the MT-28 V5 highly engineered head. In fact, this combination was tested in a variety of conditions and it outperformed the MT-28 V4 in wet soggy conditions and maintained the same spin rate in dry conditions. The trapezoidal groove also undergoes a mirror-face milling process, which precisely and carefully mills each groove for optimal spin.
To meet the commemorative Twenty-Five Top-10 Wins, six came from this past weekend’s Sybase Match Play Championship. According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda, “This tournament is a field of the BEST 64 players on the LPGA and not only did we dominate on the leader board, FOURTEEN GOLF had 21 wedges in play, more than Nike, Cleveland, Mizuno and more.”
The match play format of the Sybase Championship was broken into four brackets, each named after a LPGA great. FOURTEEN GOLF was represented in each of the groupings one in the Whitworth, Wright, and Berg Groups. And, three players in the Sorenstam Group played FOURTEEN GOLF equipment to round out the group to six.
As previously noted, FOURTEEN GOLF has received recognition for Twenty-five Top-10 finishes this year including five on the PGA Tour starting with the Verizon Heritage, Shell Houston Open, PLAYERS Championship and (2) at the HP Byron Nelson. On the LPGA (3) Top-10 finishes were captured at the HSBC Women’s Champions, (2) clinched at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, (2) from the Honda PTT LPGA Thailand, (3) at the Kia Classic Presented by J Golf, (1) secured at the Mojo Jamaican Invitational, (1) at the Tres Maria Championship, (1) from the Bell South LPGA Classic and (6) impressive Top-10s at the Sybase Match Play Championship. To round out the list, a Top-10 was also claimed at the BMW Pro-Am on the Nationwide Tour.
Last year during the 2009 Golf Season, FOURTEEN GOLF was proudly credited with 10 professional golf victories. This year the company has celebrated three professional tour victories during the 2010 Golf Season; The South Georgia Classic on the Nationwide Tour, The Maybank Malaysian from the European Tour and another on the Hooters Tour — Carolina Series.
