2,775-Square-Foot Sustainable Prototype Overlooks Famed Bayonet’s Ninth Fairway

(SEASIDE, Calif.) – The Enclave at Cypress Grove — a 400-acre golf resort community at Bayonet and Black Horse on the Monterey Peninsula – has teamed with Palo Alto-based Clarum Homes to build a prototype “Enviro-Home,” slated for completion in late summer or early fall 2010.

Clarum’s custom Enviro-Homes blend innovative construction techniques, unsurpassed energy efficiency and leading-edge use of sustainable materials. The 2,775-square-foot single-story home at The Enclave at Cypress Grove will feature earth-friendly construction materials, high-performance insulation, high-efficiency lighting, Energy Star appliances, and electric car charging in its three-car garage.

Overlooking Bayonet’s ninth fairway and offering golf course and Pacific Ocean views, the three bedroom/three bath prototype includes an “Epicurean” gourmet kitchen with island breakfast bar, vaulted ceilings with beams, and an expansive “Grande-Room” with fireplace. It will be hewn in the classic California Mission Style architecture characteristic of the Monterey region.

“Clarum Homes’ sustainable construction practices and track record of superior quality and homeowner satisfaction make the ideal, best-in-class partner for The Enclave at Cypress Grove and Bayonet Black Horse,” says Dick Fitzgerald, project director for owner/operator Seaside Resort Development.

“Clarum Homes is excited to be part of The Enclave at Cypress Grove,” says John Suppes, CEO and President of Clarum Homes. “This is a stunning community, nestled amid two championship courses, which provide a perfect setting for the quality design and craftsmanship we build into each of our custom homes.”

Enviro-Homes minimize resource use, reduce harmful effects on the environment, create healthier and more comfortable living spaces, provide savings on utility bills, and enhance home value. For a full list of Enviro-Home specifications and green benefits, visit http://www.clarum.com/ehome.html.

The Enclave at Cypress Grove offers homebuyers custom home sites, ranging in size from 12,000 to 20,000 square feet and featuring ocean or golf views. The gated, luxury resort community provides residents convenient proximity to an abundance of dining, shopping and area attractions. It is minutes away from Monterey Bay, Cannery Row, The Monterey Bay Aquarium, numerous outdoor sports, vineyards and tasting rooms.

Residents of The Enclave at Cypress Grove will enjoy preferred golf course use at Bayonet and Black Horse without the hassle of obligatory dues. The Residential Golf Membership offers preferred tee times, reduced golf fees and discounts on food, beverage and golf shop merchandise.

About Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Club

Bayonet and Black Horse re-opened in December, 2008 after a $13 million renovation by Bates Golf Design Group (Gene Bates). Both courses underwent dramatic view-shed alterations and hole re-routings to reveal new, breathtaking ocean vistas and improved playing options (including new bentgrass greens). They were included in Golf Digest’s “Best New Courses” issue for 2009 in the ultra-competitive “Renovation” category.

Bayonet, with its narrow playing corridors and steep, penal bunkering, has long been considered the most difficult test of golf on the Monterey Peninsula. The par-72, 7,104-yard course has retained its famous bite after the recent renovation, but playability and strategic options have been greatly improved. Black Horse, a 7,024-yard, par-72 layout, features sweeping vistas of the Pacific and is highlighted by fescue-framed fairways, bunkers with distinctive, serrated edges and slickly-contoured greens.
