Eco-Friendly Golf Company To Participate In UN’s World Environment Day

June 7, 2010

TEMPE, AZ – Dixon Golf, the world’s only manufacturer of eco-friendly golf equipment, will participate in World Environment Day. World Environment Day is organized by the United Nations Environment Programme, the designated authority of the United Nations system in environmental issues.

Don Cheadle, a spokesperson for Dixon Golf, will be at the official WED ceremony in Rwanda at Volcanoes National Park. UNEP has encouraged organizations and individuals to participate in WED, even if they can’t make the trip to Rwanda. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Many Species. One Planet. One Future’

In recognition of World Environment Day, Dixon Golf has committed to hold a corporate recycling day on Saturday, June 5 as well as pledge to car pool or take mass transit to work for the week.

“The changes we make and the initiatives we participate in all tie back to one goal: to be as environmentally conscious as we can be. We’re proud of Don [Cheadle]’s participation in the event, and we are happy to do anything we can to promote environmental responsibility.”

World Environment Day began in 1973 in an effort to increase awareness and action to environmental needs. This year, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite gorilla name, to be announced by Mr. Cheadle at the WED ceremony on June 5. If you’d like more information on World Environment Day, please visit UNEP’s website at www.unep.org.
