WINDERMERE, Fla. – Golf Fitness Magazine, a national publication focusing on total game improvement through physical and mental performance for all golfers, has surpassed an important milestone by rolling over more than 10,000 nationally paid subscribers as of May 2010. Combined with newsstand distribution over 12,000 in North America and various controlled circulation campaigns, GFM circulates more than 45,000 magazines with each issue.
“We have been very pleased to see a consistent growth rate of new subscribers, industry leading newsstand sales and subscriber renewals throughout the recession of the past 18 months, in spite of very limited marketing,” said Steve Gomen, President and Publisher of Golf Fitness Magazine. “Clearly there’s a strong demand and a need for a focused approach to golf game improvement and keeping one’s golf game healthy and everlasting.”
The Spring edition of Golf Fitness Magazine, featuring Natalie Gulbis and her distance & stability golf workout, marks the beginning of the fourth year of publishing and the second year of being the #1 searched golf fitness & performance Website in the world.
“We have received great feedback from our 2009 surveys, and it’s evident our readers like what they can gain by reading Golf Fitness Magazine with 94 percent of them reporting that they would recommend it to a friend,” Gomen said.
The survey also revealed that 89 percent of the readers who have identified with Golf Fitness Magazine are avid players and 97 percent of the readers place fitness & health as priorities in their lives.
“Though we believe the functional golf fitness & health movement is still in it’s infancy, it has been exciting to watch the level of awareness towards its performance benefits for the golfer grow over the last five years while we have been developing the magazine and Website,” he said.
Gomen said that he has witnessed the perception of the game change to that of an athletic sport as he and his staff had anticipated.
“We like to say, ‘if you are a golfer, you’re an athlete, because the game is demanding on the body and truly is an athletic sport,” he said. “Every golfer, no matter what their ability or age, should be proud to see themselves as athletes. Fortunately for passionate golfers, golf is a sport unlike many others, because everyone can enjoy it, as Gary Player has been quoted saying, ‘well into your latter years!'”
