Ponce, Puerto Rico – June 17, 2010 – Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Ellie Rodriguez as the new Head Golf Professional.
Ellie brings an array of experience and a passion for golf to Costa Caribe that began at El Conquistador Resort in Farjardo, PR working for Greg Sherwood, President of Southworth Golf, an affiliate of Southworth Development, LLC. At El Conquistador, Ellie started out his career as a bag room attendant and then later was promoted to Assistant Golf Professional. Ellie’s passion for the game then took him to Hyatt Cerromnar Beach in Dorado, PR, where he was also the Assistant Golf Professional. He was first hired by Southworth Development to work at Westin Rio Mar Beach in Rio Grande, PR as the Assistant Golf Professional and then onto La Estancia Golf Resort of La Romana, DR. as Head Golf Professional. He is currently working towards his PGA Class A Status.
“Ellie’s experience and expertise make him the perfect person to serve as Head Golf Professional at Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club,” said Sherwood.. “I have worked closely with Ellie over the years and I am confident he will continue providing quality and excellence for our clients and customers.”
A father to two daughters with his first son on the way, Ellie’s responsibilities include overseeing Golf Events, Course Operations and day to day management of the Golf Shop, Course and Snack Bar. He also conductsi the Ladies Golf Program, manages the year-round junior program and supervises the club’s popular weekly clinics.
