(FORT WORTH, TX) – UST Mamiya – maker of the world’s finest carbon fiber golf shafts and premium grips – has named industry veteran Chad Kicker as Product Manager for the company’s recently-launched grip line.
Helping service rapidly-growing demand, Kicker is responsible for product development, material sourcing, marketing and sales. Working closely with product engineers, he ensures UST Mamiya’s premium grips continue to positively impact golfers of all skill levels.
“Chad’s extensive knowledge of the golf industry and his proven track record will help take our grip line to the next level,” says Gene Simpson, COO of UST Mamiya. “Superior engineering, material sourcing and marketing are key points of distinction.”
Prior to UST Mamiya, Kicker served product management and sales roles with Adams Golf, Cleveland Golf, Odyssey and other leading brands.
“As a company, UST Mamiya is held in the highest respect throughout the golf industry, and it’s very exciting to be a part of it,” says Kicker. “Our new grips are second-to-none in quality, and many players worldwide are already experiencing lower scores after making the switch.”
Launched at the 2010 PGA Show, UST Mamiya’s premium grips are available in three distinct styles and a variety of colors. The models include:
• Pro DC – High-performance, half-cord grip features a unique 4/3 compound preferred by better players looking for torsional strength in the upper hand, and a soft, velvety feel in the mid and lower section of the grip.
• Comp SC – Utilizing the latest compression molding technology and finest rubber, UST Mamiya designers created this unique, select-compound, multi-color grip. It provides low torque as well as the ultimate in traction and feel.
• Tour PC – Designed using a new, proprietary blend of the finest natural and synthetic rubber compounds, these grips promote a velvet-soft feel and a glint texture for an exceptional, torsionally-tight, long-lasting grip.
Likened to the precision of automaker Lexus, UST Mamiya’s award-winning shafts are unrivaled in quality and performance attributed to world-class design engineering, premium-selected raw materials and precise handcrafted, repeatable production techniques. Tight tolerances, coupled with proprietary design principles and low-resin carbon-fiber materials enhance feel during the golf swing.
UST Mamiya produces 35 shaft models within the ATTAS and Proforce product lines:
• ATTAS – Introduced in Japan in early 2009 and in North America last month, this premium shaft was immediately adopted by Tour players globally. Innovatively engineered with smooth-bending properties throughout the shaft’s constant taper design, more energy is transferred to the ball for instant feedback with greater distance. Ultra-thin carbon fibers optimize feel and allow the shaft to maintain its shape for consistent, accurate shots. ATTAS is distinguished by its tri-color look, notably atomic orange finish.
• Proforce – Famous for its bright gold color and contributing to multiple major-tournament victories, Proforce shafts have been UST Mamiya’s flagship since winning the 1999 Masters. The Proforce V2 incorporates the company’s original “tip technology,” masterfully balancing torque, weight, spin and launch angle for extraordinary power off the tee. The latest in the Proforce series, AXIVCore features a true, four-axis woven carbon-fiber prepreg promoting stability and control and for increased ball speed.
