SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (June 22, 2010) – Nippon Shaft today congratulated Sunday’s winner of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, whose victory at the Dolce Seaview Resort in Galloway, N.J. made her the world’s No. 1-ranked player in women’s golf.
It was the fourth victory of the season for the Japanese superstar, who shot a 54-hole total of 16-under par on rounds of 66-67-64-197 using custom made Nippon Shaft N.S. Pro V-90 lightweight steel shafts in her Bridgestone Tour Stage X-Blade GR C-1 irons. It was her first victory ever in the United States.
“Nippon Shaft would like to congratulate the new No. 1 player in the world on her victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “Our company is proud that its high-quality, precision-made products performed so well in the hands of such an excellent player.”
The player, who turned 25 last Saturday, defeated her closest contender by two stokes and earned $225,000 for the victory. She now has used Nippon Shaft products in all four of her LPGA victories this year.
Meanwhile, this week’s winners on the Japan LPGA Tour and the Duramed Futures Tour both used Nippon Shaft lightweight steel shafts in their irons.
At the Tate & Lyle Players Championship on the Duramed Futures Tour, the winner used Nippon Shaft N.S. Pro 950 lightweight steel shafts in her Callaway X-Forged irons (4-PW). At the Nichirei Ladies, the champion prevailed using Nippon Shaft N.S. Pro 950 lightweight steel shafts in her Bridgestone X-Blade 703 irons.
At the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, Nippon Shaft was the second most popular shaft in the field with eight players, seven of whom made the cut, using Nippon Shaft products.
Nippon Shaft has more than 50 professional victories worldwide. Based in Yokahama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia, where it controls 80 percent of the golf shaft market. In North America, Nippon Shaft is the No. 2-selling steel shaft and is growing.
