AUSTIN, TEXAS, JUNE 23, 2010: Chris Ohlmeyer, long-time producer and director for ESPN, and Lou Kusserow, the executive producer for Winnercomm from 2007-2010, have formed a new production company, Ohlmeyer Kusserow Group.
Ohlmeyer and Kusserow have more than 40 years combined broadcast experience and will focus on sports television production, but will also produce entertainment, documentary and Internet content.
The new company, also known as OKG, will be headquartered in Austin, Texas.
“The goal with OKG is to provide high-quality productions at affordable prices,” Ohlmeyer said. “In the current marketplace, there is a need for packagers who can deliver network quality without the network price tag.”
“Our producing and directing experience span the broadcast landscape,” Kusserow added. “Chris has produced the British Open, I have directed the U.S. Open in tennis, but we both gained our experience on small-budget college sports where the goal was always to make more with less.”
Both Ohlmeyer and Kusserow are second-generation sports producers. Ohlmeyer is the son of legendary sports producer Don Ohlmeyer and Kusserow is the son of sports television pioneer Lou Kusserow.
“We share the common experience of having grown up in this business and of choosing to follow in our fathers’ footsteps,” Ohlmeyer said. “We both look at it as an honor to carry on our family name into this next venture.”
