IRVINE, CA – JUNE 23, 2010 – FOURTEEN GOLF, recognized as a worldwide leader in wedge design and a known favorite amongst top touring golf professionals, announced today that their new MT-28 V5 Wedges were played on the Hooters Tour at the Bentonville Open to earn the company’s seventh victory.
These weekly back-to-back victories share an interesting common denominator; both golf professionals used FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 V5 Wedges to claim their first professional titles.
As most golfers know, the short game is critical to score well. In fact, industry reports state it equates to 70% of the total score from within a 100-120 yards. The victory at the Bentonville Open seems to validate how important that statistic is.
At the Hooters Tour event held at the Lost Springs Golf & Athletic club, a FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 V5 Wedge was used in windy conditions in a critical play-off. The Hooters Touring Professional and former UCI Golfer used his wedge from 111 yards to precisely position his shot safely to set up for an easy putt and more importantly — his first victory.
According to FOURTEEN GOLF COO Marcy Kamoda “FOURTEEN GOLF takes great pleasure in both of these victories. We are known as the preeminent wedge designer and when our short game can contribute to a victory, we value it.”
In addition to claiming his first professional championship, this skillful golfer collected $30,000 in prize money, which moves him to seventh on the money list. More importantly, he takes the lead in “The Race For The Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open Exemption” which is given to the NGA Hooters Tour member who accumulates the most money over the four events in June and July.
More Information on the FOURTEEN GOLF MT-28 V5 Wedge:
The MT-28 V5 wedge features a classically design head which features its signature FOURTEEN “reverse taper design” but has been improved by adding a groove strategically located in between the club sole and blade portion of the wedge. This structural change allowed the engineers to move the CG to a higher more stabilizing position for more precise shots.
In preparation for the new groove policy on the professional tours such as the PGA and LPGA, the company spent years engineering a new head and groove combination for the MT-28 V5 that would be in compliance with the USGA’s requirements and yet maintained the ultimate spin rate. The company not only met that objective but exceeded their expectations.
For exceptional spin and control, the entirely new unique trapezoidal shaped groove works in unison with the MT-28 V5 highly engineered head. In fact, this combination was tested in a variety of conditions and it outperformed the MT-28 V4 in wet soggy conditions and maintained the same spin rate in dry conditions. The trapezoidal groove also undergoes a mirror-face milling process that precisely and carefully mills each groove for optimal spin.
