MEDINA, OHIO – (June 24, 2010) – The American Blind Golf team, sponsored by LoudMouth Golf sportswear, takes on Canada this week in the annual McCulloch Cup, as ten of the top blind/visually impaired golfers from the U.S. square off against the top ten from Canada.
The ten sight-impaired American players will wear some of the LoudMouth’s most colorful patterns during the competition, including Bushwood, BarCode and Disco balls. As American Blind Golf co-founder Bruce Hooper put it, “We may blind our spectators with our loud shirts and pants!”
The McCulloch Cup, known as the Ryder Cup of Blind Golf, is being held June 25th-28th at the Ridgetop Golf Club in Medina, Ohio. American Blind Golf is a non-profit organization that promotes golf for blind and visually impaired people.
Scott Woodworth, the founder and designer of the wildly patterned brand, is excited about the new sponsorship, “We’re thrilled to support the American Blind Golf team,” he said. “It’s a great organization, and we’re glad the golfers are going to face off with Canada wearing LoudMouth!”
American Blind Golf co-founders Bruce Hooper and Mark Arnold first learned about LoudMouth Golf through golfer John Daly, who exclusively wears the brand. Their interest peaked during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Bruce Hooper explained, “We were watching the Olympics and we saw the Norwegian Curling team wearing LoudMouth Golf pants on the ice. We thought this could be perfect for our team so I contacted LoudMouth Golf and they sent the whole team loud shirts and pants for our upcoming tournaments.”
This is the 8th consecutive year that a blind/visually-impaired tournament will be held in Ohio. Blind golf makes only minor modifications to the standard rules of golf. Blind or partially-sighted golfers have a coach who assists the golfer at each hole. The coach describes the distance, direction and characteristics of the hole. Coaches also assist with club alignment prior to each stroke.
“There will be a lot of pressure representing the USA in this Ryder Cup competition,” said Mark Arnold Captain of the American team. “LoudMouth clothing will add the perfect touch to keep the American Players loose throughout the tournament.”
