Five Reasons to Golf at the 21st Maccabiah Games in Caesarea, Israel
- The History
- The city of Caesarea was founded around the year 30 BCE by King Herod the Great as a major port on the Mediterranean Coast. Throughout the years, many other empires left their mark on the city, mainly the Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans. Today, the city is known for its abundance of well-preserved ruins, including the double aqueduct and Herodean Hippodrome.
- The Course
- The Caesarea Golf Club was established in the 1960’s by the Baron de Rothschild Family and is the only international golf club in Israel. In 2009, the course was redesigned by renowned golf course designer, Pete Dye. The course features a striking view of the Northern Israeli landscape and a challenging design that makes the ability to host the Maccabiah tournament a reality. The club is in central Caesarea, near recreational and vacation spots, the ancient port, and near spectacular beaches.
- The Amenities
- The world-renowned Caesarea Golf Club offers a wide range of facilities and resources. The course is painstakingly groomed to make the best possible playing conditions for all athletes, which helps the diverse course plan come to realization. Additionally, there are numerous training ranges, an abundance of skilled instructors, a golf academy and school for children, pro shop, spa, and a gourmet restaurant.
- The Community
- After other Pete Dye designed courses have set up the same, a golf neighborhood was established just outside the course grounds. The exceptional, high-end neighborhood offers an unmatched standard of living in Israel. Additionally, Caesarea is located in the northern coastal plain of Israel, which makes perfect year-round weather to golf.
