MACCABI USA IS SEEKING JEWISH GOLFERS FOR THE 21st MACCABIAH
Philadelphia, PA, – Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish golfers, ages 15+, to represent the United States at the 21st Maccabiah in Israel, summer of 2021. The Maccabiah is the 3rd largest sporting event in the world, with over 10,000 athletes from 80 countries. The United States delegation will be over 1,200 members, competing in over 40 different sports.
The Maccabiah Golf Qualifier will bring athletes from around the country to sunny South Florida to earn a spot on their respective team. The qualifier will be held June 28-July 1, 2020, at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. PGA National is the home of the Honda Classic, and has previously hosted the Maccabiah Qualifier for the 19th Games in 2013. Participation levels for the men’s and women’s teams are:
- Juniors: Ages 15-18
- Open: Ages 19-49
- Masters: Ages 50-64
- Grand Masters: Ages 65+
The Maccabiah Games are more than an international sporting competition; they are a celebration of Jewish culture, unity and pride. ISRAEL CONNECT, Maccabi USA’s unique cultural and educational program, takes place for seven days prior to the start of the Games. All Juniors, Youth, Open, and Paralympic athletes must participate in the program, where they have the opportunity to tour historical and religious sites, take part in cultural identity seminars and train with their teams, all while developing lifelong relationships. The Maccabiah Golf tournament will be held at the Caesarea Golf Club.
Scott Adams of Ashville, NC, is the Overall Golf Co-Chair and a 3-time Maccabi USA golf participant. “There is no feeling that compares to experiencing Israel and playing the sport I love at the same time while representing the United States at the Maccabiah. I have experienced it more than once and the sense of pride you feel is incredible” said Adams. “We look forward to all golfers sharing this experience together in 2021.”
