Ace Kids Golf, Lake Chabot Jr. Golf Academy, Metropolitan Jr. Golf Program, Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative and The First Tee of Oakland
Oakland, CA- The “Googie & Friends” Annual Fund-Raiser Golf Tournament is for set for Monday, August 16, 2010 at Metropolitan Golf Links located near the Oakland International Airport. This charitable team-scramble event is open to the public and kicks off with 6:30 a.m. registration, followed by range warm-up and an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
According to loyal event supporter Hon. Larry R. Reid, Oakland City Council Member (District 7), this tournament is being held to raise funds for five worthy golf programs based in Oakland, Calif., which include: Ace Kids Golf, Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy, Metropolitan Junior Golf Program, Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative and The First Tee of Oakland.
“We are looking forward to another successful Googie & Friends Fund-Raiser benefiting Oakland’s junior golf programs,” shared Gary Carls, CEO of the Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative (OTEI). “The five community-based golf organizations that benefit from this event are in need of funds to help sustain programs that enrich the lives of local youth…and what better way to raise these funds than through a fun golf tournament at Metropolitan Golf Links.”
Entry fee is $125.00 per person which includes green fee, shared cart, small bucket of balls, prizes, lunch, and a Googie bag. For those who want only lunch, the cost is $20.00. (Registration deadline is August 6.)
