BELLINGHAM, Washington – An industry leader in innovative composite shaft technology, Aerotech Golf reports that Randall Dawson of Auburn, Calif., used a new Claymore LD300 driver shaft to launch a winning 374-yard drive in the NorCal Super Long Drive Qualifier, Open Division, in Pleasanton, Calif. The blast beat the nearest competitor by 18 yards and secured a place for Dawson at the regionals in Mesquite, Nev., in August.
Also at the event, competitor Lonnie White crushed a 365-yard drive and took first-place in the Arizona-Utah Division, and then won the Oregon-Washington Division with a 345-yard drive. He won both competitions using a private label Aerotech Challenger driver shaft, exclusively offered by professional clubfitter John Greenwood of Dublin, Calif. White, who is already qualified for the Nevada regionals as a senior, will also now advance in the open division.
“The Claymore is an exciting lightweight, filament-wound design engineered for a seamless, extremely uniform and stable flexing golf shaft, and long drive competitors from all over the world continue to switch to the Claymore,” says Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary. “The Claymore Long Drive series is a new generation of extremely stable, low-torque super-light weight golf shafts that have been designed to withstand the forces generated by the modern long drive competitor.”
The Claymore shafts utilize a new micro-thin Micro-Tex Carbon Fiber that allows more high-modulus fibers to be incorporated into specific fiber angles including the hoop wound (90°) surface layer which minimizes shaft distortion for superior stability. The long drive model (Claymore LD) is available in three flexes LD400 (4X flex), LD300 (3X flex) and LD200 (2X flex). This year, Aerotech introduced two all-new Claymore models – MX48 and MX60 – with five flex levels (F1-F5) each. The MX48 weights are 47 grams (F1 flex) through 50 grams (F5 flex), while the slightly heavier MX60 model weighs in at 57 grams (F1) to 60 grams (F5). MSRP $99.
