PALM COAST, Fla. (July 7, 2010) – ‘O’ BEAM (www.obeamputt.com), a laser-based putting training aid, is now in use at Waterfall Country Club in Clayton, Ga. At this private club in northeast Georgia, rated one of the “Best of the Best” by Georgia Golf News, ‘O’ BEAM is a valuable element of the instructional program.
“We are pleased to have ‘O’ BEAM in use at Waterfall Country Club,” said Katie O’Keefe, founder, president and CEO of ‘O’ BEAM. “Club members will enjoy improving their putting results by including ‘O’ BEAM in their lessons and practice.”
‘O’ BEAM was created in 2008 by O’Keefe, Director of Instruction for Hampton Golf, when she observed that many of her students were experiencing improper setup and excess head movement while putting, preventing them from establishing the foundation for an effective putting stroke. ‘O’ BEAM allows a player to practice proper setup and reduced head movement, leading to better putting results.
“‘O’ BEAM is the best teaching tool I have ever used to help my pupils stay steady over the golf ball while putting,” said Ray Davis, PGA, director of golf at Waterfall CC. “Even good putters benefit from the use of ‘O’ BEAM during practice. It helps every player understand how still one has to be over a putt.”
To practice putting with ‘O’ BEAM, a player places the ‘O’ BEAM device on the visor portion of his hat. With the power switch in the ON position, the ‘O’ BEAM shoots a laser beam – in the shape of an ‘O’ – that the player positions on the ball. When the player addresses the ball, ‘O’BEAM’s laser allows for the correction of any head movement in order to achieve a smoother and more consistent putting stroke.
