July 9, 2010; Phoenix, Arizona: The award-winning PING® G15® driver was the top selling model in dollar share for the third straight month, according to Golf DataTech LLC Market Share Reports, PING announced today.
The popular driver, which was introduced in August of last year, has now been the #1 selling model in March, April and May.
In addition to helping golfers of all abilities realize significant performance gains, Tour pros around the world have relied on the technology of the G15 since its introduction. Bubba Watson captured The Travelers Championship last month with the G15 driver. European Tour star Miguel Angel Jimenez switched to the G15 driver last week and won the Alstom Open de France.
“To be the top selling driver model for three straight months is very satisfying and a compliment to our engineering team,” said PING Chairman & CEO John Solheim. “To see Bubba get his first win meant a lot to our company, and me personally, as I’ve known Bubba since he was a junior golfer. Miguel winning his first week out with the G15 driver in a playoff was also exciting to see.”
Among the unique features of the G15 is the proprietary high-balance point technology that creates a lighter shaft and allows for a heavier head weight for increased ball speed and a higher moment of inertia. It’s the only driver to be honored as the “Editor’s Choice” by the 2010 Golf Digest Hot List. The magazine also named the G15 its Driver Performance Leader, “because it looks and works like a golf club should for every kind of player.”
Along with the technology of the driver, the company credits custom fitting and the availability of launch monitors for helping fuel the success of the G15 and its other products.
“Golfers are comparing their current drivers, or one they are considering buying, to the G15 on a launch monitor,” Solheim said. “The ball speed, launch angle and spin rate numbers generated on the launch monitors are all the proof they need to make the switch to the G15. They see longer and straighter drives and they are convinced the G15 is the best choice for their games.”
